GUIDE

How much does an arcade machine cost?

A new home arcade machine costs $129.99 to $9,895 in our 79 U.S.-priced listings: countertop machines under $200, Arcade1Up full-height cabinets at $499.99 to $699.99, custom and licensed cabinets from about $1,000 to $4,000, and specialty machines above that.

A new home arcade machine costs between $129.99 and $9,895 in our listings. Small countertop machines sit under $200, mass-market full-height cabinets cost $499.99 to $899.99, custom and licensed premium cabinets run from about $1,000 to $4,000, and a few specialty machines (virtual pinball, Golden Tee, Big Buck Hunter) cost $4,299 to $9,895.

The middle of the market is higher than most people expect. Across the 79 ready-built machines we track with U.S. dollar prices, the median is $1,595. Most listings come from custom builders, while the cheap machines come mostly from one brand, Arcade1Up.

Arcade1Up and most custom makers' prices were re-read on their own stores on October 1, 2026. Dealer and retailer prices, and a few maker pages we could not read, are as of September 30, 2026. Each profile shows its date. We cover new machines only and do not estimate what vintage cabinets are worth.

Price ranges at a glance

U.S. dollar prices for ready-built machines. Twelve more are priced in pounds or euros: Numskull's quarter-scale cabinets (£199.99 to £249.99) and Tiny Arcade Machines' bartops (€499 to €2,249).

Two patterns stand out. Licensed machines cluster at the ends of the market: Arcade1Up at the bottom, Bandai Namco's Pixel Bash line and the commercial Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter cabinets at the top. The custom cabinets in between mostly sell large game libraries without a licensing statement. See what the licensing labels mean.

Prices also come in three kinds. Of the 79, 38 are list prices, 26 are sale prices that may end, and 15 are "starting at" prices that rise with options. Each profile says which.

Under $200: countertop machines

Eight machines in our listings cost less than $200, all small enough for a table:

All seven Arcade1Up models were available on arcade1up.com as of October 1, 2026, at those prices. The 7-inch Countercades stand about 13 inches tall per Arcade1Up. Compare them on the Countercade page.

$200 to $900: Arcade1Up Deluxe, Supreme and Legends Ultimate

This is where full-height home cabinets start. Arcade1Up prices are as of October 1, 2026.

The difference within the band is mostly screen size and game count. Arcade1Up cabinets carry 3 to 14 games built around one title or publisher. The AtGames machine lists 300 games. Arcade1Up's ownership changed in late 2025, which affects warranty and stock; see is Arcade1Up discontinued.

A few machines in this band are not full cabinets: the AtGames Legends Gamer Pro HD at $249.99, the Arcade1Up Ms. Pac-Man Arcade Cocktail Table at $599.99, and the Dream Arcades Bartop Minicade at $599 on sale (September 30, 2026), with an 8-inch screen and 250 games, sold as a limited run of 25.

$1,000 to $2,000: entry custom cabinets

Thirteen machines fall here, all from custom builders. A few examples:

Read the "included" line carefully at this price. Rec Room Masters' cabinets come without a screen, so the price you pay depends on the monitor or TV you add.

$2,000 to $4,000: premium and licensed Pixel Bash machines

Twenty-six of our 79 machines cost $2,000 to $3,999. Most are made-to-order custom cabinets with 32 to 55 inch screens and 2 or 4 players, from makers like Phantom Arcades, Creative Arcades, The Arcade Guys, Quality Arcades, Polycade and Dream Arcades. Lead times run from a few business days to 10 to 12 weeks, per the makers' pages.

The licensed options here are Bandai Namco's Pixel Bash machines, which carry "Licensed, licensor named". Prices are from dealers, as of September 30, 2026:

Six machines cost more than $4,000:

Building instead

Building can cost less, but only if you count the screen and computer. DIY prices in our listings:

  • Plans: free to $37.08 (plans collection)
  • Controls (joystick and button kits, single joysticks, trackballs, spinners, a panel kit): $19.99 to $129.99 (controls)
  • Complete cabinet kits: $223.99 to $880 in U.S. dollars, plus one UK kit at £472 (kits)

None of the complete kits in our listings include a screen. All leave the computer and games to you, which is why they carry the "Bring your own games" label. Whether building really saves money is covered in build or buy an arcade machine. Start at the DIY hub.

Shipping, screens and other costs sellers list

The sticker price is not always the final price. Things sellers state on their pages:

  • Screen not included. Rec Room Masters' assembled uprights, every complete kit we list, and the Incredible Technologies, Golden Tee Clubhouse and Big Buck Hunter cabinets take a buyer-supplied screen or TV.
  • "Starting at" prices rise with options such as screen size, artwork or a 4-player panel. Big Buck Hunter's options run up to $12,794 on the same page.
  • Shipping terms vary. Rec Room Masters ships by UPS Ground to the U.S. and Canada only. Dream Arcades charges shipping separately. Several premium sellers quote lead times instead of ship dates.
  • Risers for Arcade1Up cabinets are a common add-on, because a stock Deluxe cabinet stands about 5 feet tall. We have not yet collected sourced riser prices.
  • Weight. Heavy machines can mean freight delivery. Stated weights run from 6.3 lb for a Countercade to 454 lb for The Arcade Guys' TAG Ultimate Retro. See arcade machine dimensions.

How we collect prices

Every price comes from a maker's or retailer's page, with the seller, the price kind and the date we read it. We do not average across sellers or guess at street prices. When a page is out of stock, we keep the last stated price and say so. Details are on our methodology page.
