GUIDE

Arcade machine dimensions: how much space you need

Home arcade machines in our listings run from about 13 inches tall (countertop) to 79 inches (premium uprights), with specialty cabinets up to 86.4 inches; Arcade1Up full-height cabinets are 60 to 67 inches tall, and full-size uprights 68 to 79 inches tall and 19 to 55 inches wide.

A home arcade machine takes anywhere from a 9-inch square of countertop to a 4-foot-wide stretch of wall. In our listings, mass-market full-height cabinets like Arcade1Up stand 60 to 67 inches tall, and full-size uprights stand 68 to 79 inches tall and 19 to 55 inches wide. A few specialty cabinets, such as the Golden Tee Clubhouse and Big Buck Hunter, stand about 86 inches.

There is no single standard size for a home arcade cabinet. Makers publish their own numbers, and those numbers vary a lot by cabinet type and player count. Below are the sizes stated for 71 of our listings on makers' and retailers' pages, checked September 30, 2026, grouped by type, with a link to each machine's profile and its source.

Typical sizes by cabinet type

Ranges cover the machines in our catalog with stated dimensions. The Atari Centipede Counter Series is left out of the countertop range because its page lists it as 16 x 19.5 x 7 in, which does not match the other countertop machines; it appears as stated in the Arcade1Up table below. Sellers write dimensions in different orders (L x W x H, W x D x H), so we give height, width and depth separately where the page makes them clear. Metric figures are converted to inches and rounded.

Two quick reads from the table. Height barely changes between full-size machines, so width is what decides whether a cabinet fits. And player count drives width: of the nine prebuilt 4-player uprights with a stated width, seven are 36.25 inches wide or more. The exceptions are The Arcade Guys' 32-inch TAG at 30.5 inches and the Polycade Sente, whose 25.5-inch cabinet takes a 44.75-inch control module. Two-player uprights start at 19 inches.

Arcade1Up sizes and the riser question

Arcade1Up publishes full dimensions for some machines and only a height for others. From the maker's pages:

The riser question comes from height. Many buyers add a riser to an Arcade1Up cabinet to bring the screen and controls up. The current Deluxe and Ultra cabinets stand 60 to 61.5 inches, and the newer Supreme Series cabinets stand 64.9 to 67 inches per the maker, so the Supreme machines are already 4 to 7 inches taller. We have not yet collected sourced riser dimensions, so we cannot tell you how tall a cabinet ends up with one.

Full-size and premium uprights

Full-size uprights in our listings stand 68 to 79 inches tall. A few with all three dimensions stated:

Licensed full-size machines follow the same pattern. The Pac-Man Pixel Bash Coin-Op Upright is 68 H x 24 W x 33 D in and 240 to 250 lb, per Game Room Shop. The Iconic Arcade Street Fighter II XT is about 68 inches tall, described as a 9/10-scale copy of the original cabinet. Compare every upright on the upright page.

Cocktail tables and bartops

Cocktail tables trade height for floor area. You sit or stand around a screen under glass.

See the cocktail page.

Bartops sit on a table or counter. The smaller prebuilt ones are 15 to 23.5 inches tall: the Dream Arcades Minicade at 15 x 11 x 12.75 in and 15 lb, and the Tiny Arcade Machines Premium Bartop at 52 x 47 x 41 cm (about 20.5 x 18.5 x 16.1 in) and 18 kg. Bartops built around a 32-inch screen are much bigger: the Arcade Imagination 32" Bartop is 32 W x 24 D x 30 H in and about 65 lb. See the bartop page. The smallest of all are the Countercades on the Countercade page.

Weight and getting it through the door

Stated weights in our listings run from 6.3 lb (Pac-Man Countercade) to 454 lb (The Arcade Guys TAG Ultimate Retro). Arcade1Up full-height cabinets are 68 to 78 lb where stated. The Big Buck Hunter cabinet is 400 lb. Premium full-size cabinets with stated weights run from 42 lb (Rec Room Masters Upright Xtension 2 Player, as stated) and about 95 lb (Quality Arcades Retro-Slim) to 250 lb (Pixel Bash Coin-Op Upright) and 454 lb (TAG).

Things sellers state that matter for delivery:

  • Shipping size can be bigger than the machine. Game Room Shop lists the Pixel Bash Coin-Op Upright at 39 W x 30 D x 76 H in for shipping, against 24 x 33 x 68 in assembled. The High Top Bistro ships at 36 x 36 x 48 in.
  • Some ship flat. Rec Room Masters ships its Xtension machines flat-packed by UPS Ground, and the DIY upright kits arrive flat. A flat box goes through doors and up stairs more easily, but you assemble it in the room.
  • Most makers do not state weight. About half of our machines with dimensions have no weight on the page. Ask the seller before delivery day.

For most uprights, depth is the smallest dimension, so that is the number to check against your narrowest doorway. Measure the door opening with the door open, not the frame.

Measuring your room: a checklist

  1. Find the cabinet's full footprint. Use width and depth from the maker's page. For 4-player machines, check whether the control panel adds depth or width. Polycade, for example, lists its 4-player module separately at 44.75 in wide.
  2. Check the ceiling for tall cabinets with marquees. Full-size uprights reach 79 inches, Rec Room Masters' Xtension 32" Vertical is 84 1/8 inches with its topbox, and the Golden Tee Clubhouse is 86.4 inches.
  3. Leave standing or seating room in front of the controls. For a cocktail table, leave room on every side people will play from.
  4. Measure every door, hallway and stair turn on the delivery route against the shipping size, not the assembled size.
  5. Plan for power. Check the maker's page for power needs and put the cabinet near an outlet.
  6. Check the floor for heavy machines. A 200 to 450 lb cabinet on a raised or upper floor is worth asking about before you order.
  7. Mock it up. Tape the footprint on the floor and live with it for a day.

The machine finder can filter by the space you have. For everything else that goes into the decision, see choosing a home arcade machine, and for what each size costs, how much an arcade machine costs.
