Sonic arcade machines

Updated Oct 1, 2026 · By Retro Field Guide research team

Two home machines in our listings play Sonic the Hedgehog, and Arcade1Up makes both: the Sonic the Hedgehog Deluxe Series at $499.99 on sale and the Sonic the Hedgehog Supreme Series at $599.99, on Arcade1Up's store as of October 1, 2026. Both carry the same four SEGA games and state 2 players. The Supreme is 7 inches taller with a bigger screen.

The Sonic machines compared

The four games on both are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic 3D Blast. Both have dual 8-way joysticks, six action buttons and a light-up marquee. The Deluxe lists dual speakers; the Supreme lists a faux coin door. Arcade1Up gives $599.99 as the Deluxe's compare-at price, so on October 1 the two were $100 apart.

The Supreme's page says it is also in stores at Costco.

What to check before you buy

• Size. Arcade1Up gives only heights, 60 and 67 inches, on the pages we read. Ask for width and depth before you plan the space. See upright cabinets.
• Players. Both state 2 players.
• Licensing label. Both show "Licensed, licensor named" (SEGA): each page names SEGA for the games. See licensing labels.
• Availability. Both were available on Arcade1Up's store as of October 1, 2026. Arcade1Up's warranty is 90 days, or 180 if you register; see is Arcade1Up discontinued.

We cover new machines only.

The original game

Sonic the Hedgehog began on a home console, not in arcades. Sonic Team developed it and Sega published it for the Sega Genesis in June 1991 in North America (Wikipedia, checked October 1, 2026). For another SEGA game on the same Arcade1Up lines, see OutRun arcade machines.
